In the news analysis, it’s confirmed the Chinese-based app will hire 1,000 engineers for the Mountain View office. If you have not been following the news, but there is increasing evidence reported that user data from the United States (U.S) has been accessed and harvested in China. Naturally, the parent company, ByteDance, has employees who work or used to work for the Chinese government.

The expansion is not just for the U.S, but globally TikTok will hire 2,000 engineers for a total of 3,000.

TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi, acknowledged the hiring increase during the Bloomberg New Economy Forum hosted in Singapore.

“We have always been more cautious in terms of recruitment,” Chew said at the conference. “At this stage of our growth, I think that our pace, our cadence, of hiring is just right for us.”
